PATCHES

TRANSDERMAL
PATCHES
The active ingredient is dissolved or suspended in an adhesive matrix that is applied to the patient's skin. The drug is distributed through the skin into the bloodstream for systemic action.
- Continuous delivery of the prescribed dose of the drug
- No oral or hepatic passage
- Easy for patients to use
TOPICAL
PATCHES
Unlike the transdermal patch, the active ingredient delivered by a topical patch does not leave the application area and is designed to have a local effect, for example to reduce pain or provide local anaesthesia.
- Dosage accuracy
- Control of the diffusion area
- Reduced risk of cross-contamination compared to a gel or cream
